Maybe buying an X Type??.

Maybe buying an X Type??.
Morning all,
My first venture into the X area.
My reasons are:
The mighty X300 has a few major components not quite doing what they should, so I/we are tossing the coins as to either spending a motza on the X300 @ 203000kms, and dying with it, or moving on.
We have the S Type as her car, which will become mine (daily) if the replacement takes place.
She likes the X, from a female point of view. She also likes the SAAB Convertible, yep I know.
We will be considering the 2.1ltr FWD, and Automatic only.
I have read many, many threads over the last 2 or so days, and nothing really seems to stand up and smack me in the face about them.
Is there a buying guide somewhere that I am missing??.
If not, some sensible stand out items to really watch out for would be handy.
I am looking at sub 100k kms, and an SE with proven service details, as I do for all my Jags.
I also understand most of you are up there, and I am down here, and the markets each have different faults etc, but I reckon I can sort thru all that fairly smartly.
As usual, thanks heaps in advance.

Grant, it sounds like you are very familiar with the Jags. In short, the 2.1L motors are pretty bullet proof and I can't say that I have heard many bad things about them. I am sure they suffer from the same vacuum leaks that the 2.5 and 3.0L motors suffer from. But, those problems are easy to solve. Also, since you are getting the 2.1L motor, you are only going to have front wheel drive, so, the weak link (transfer case) in the car will not exist. So, you should be in for a long lasting car that will give you many years of trouble free use.
