Default Mina Gallery 08 mesh grille on an 02?

i have an 02 x-type and from what i have been reading it looks like i can just put the grilles into myx type ith no major issue. the mina gallery rep told me itwill only fit from an 04-08. Can i use these grilles for my 02 with no major modifications?

The top one will fit all of the X Types using just 3 or so easy bolts. The bottom one can be added to an 02 X Type (like mine) but will require a lot more work and custom fabrication if I recall correctly. There probably are instruction on how to add the bottom one to an early model X Type on this forum.

I purchased my windshield decal on eBay and I asked the seller to do the black and red combo but he doesn't seem to be selling on eBay anymore. I think what you could do is find a seller on eBay that claims they can do custom stickers and show them a picture of what you want like this: Replacing lower and upper intake manifold gaskets by aCapiz, on Flickr

The mirror caps were cheap and easy to do yourself with a bit of plastidip.
First, pull the mirror cap off your mirror (do this by using a flathead screwdriver and prying it from the top of where the painted cover meets the black plastic). Then use any red rubber dip spray like plastidip and spray the entire thing with about three coats of red. Then mask the top part of the mirror using the natural curvature of the mirror cap as a guideline (this way it looks more OEM) and paint the bottom with black plastidip. Initially I had sprayed the entire thing red but it looked kind of out of place and ridiculous because the mirrors looked huge! After added the black strip it made the mirrors look thin and sporty.

aCapiz, your car looks sick. How much did your grille cost you?

Man you beat me to the tow hook and banner haha. I'll be stealing those ideas, but different colors. I'm stealing your mirror cover idea too. Nicely done. I've had a hook for over a year, but its not threaded backwards like it should be haha.

The grille was around $270 from Mina Gallery. What I then did was use a can of VHT nite shades (tail light tint) and sprayed the glossy stainless steel mesh. After three coats it became a black gloss stainless steel. The center growler was replaced with an OEM Red Jaguar Growler for the new XFs, XJs, and F Types.

Your car already looks great and I can't wait to see how it looks like after the new upgrades. Share pics when you can!

Thanks, I will. I've been working on nursing my xk8 convertible back to health. Its been going slowly, but the progress is encouraging. I did finish my intake and battery relocation on the x type so I'll be moving on to different things with it soon.

Did you move your battery? Pretty cool mod. There's a thread here somewhere on that subject, but I don't think anyone did it. I've wanted to move the battery to the trunk but the starter is so far fwd in the engine bay that I figure you'd have to run 12ft of heavy cable for the positive lead to reach the trunk.

How did you do it?

I posted a thread last month about the whole thing, but yes I moved the battery to the trunk.
