Default Mobile phone usage - RESOLVED

My 2004 x type has a handsfree attachment fitted with a mic attached up on the roof console. Is that standard Jaguar optional equipment ? How do i link my bluetooth to it ? Is there a Jaguar phone that should sit on the pod ? Thanks.

Just to add, it is a Bury make. Is that a bluetooth transponder or a pod ? Doesnt look like a proper pod / phone base though.

Bluetooth will have been an (expensive) option on your vehicle but it's not necessarily fitted with this equipment.

The two commonest owner vehicle changes are to audio and telephone so you need to determine exactly what you have got fitted.

Jaguar Dealer can confirm whether Bluetooth factory fitted and some pics may help others here to identify the installed equipment.

Yorkie, hit the "PHONE" icon on the steering wheel then look at the radio. It will tell you if your car has that option or not. If you get a message saying something to the effect of "please install device", then you have that option. If you get a message about "Phone not fitted", then you do not. It seems to me that there was also a phone bracket that got fitted into the car (in the center console?) that is another give away.

You have:

1. an aftermarket phone installation
2. a very nice wicker basket

The Bury may have been interfaced with the Jaguar system to some extent (I used an aftermarket Parrot Bluetooth in an earlier Jaguar and it mapped to everything but the steering wheel controls).

Follow Thermo's procedure in post #4 to see if it is connected to the vehicle or totally independent.

I did, and it says No Phone on the screen. The steering wheel button mutes the radio when i press it and un mutes when pressed again.

P.S. I knew someone would comment about the garage junk, mucky net curtains etc.

Looks like it's linked to the vehicle system. Do you have the Bury Handbook or is there a Model Number on the pod?

Bury documentation can be downloaded from here:

Download centre

Once you can identify the model, it should be easy to find compatible handsets and the pairing procedure.

Hi Graham, i have sorted it. I have been on the Bury website. I have the Bury 8 uni take and talk system. They retail for approx 75 quid, you have that fitted then you buy a cradle to suit the phone you have. All cradles for a type 8 system fit my mounting. I am currently ebay bidding on a cradle for my phone. The website say i have to bluetooth my phone to the cradle before trying to use it, so watch this space. The one i am bidding on is as new in the box with instructions, so should be ok.

I have this one fitted -

Mark,

Pleased to hear you're making progress. Good luck with the bid.

My car phone is up and working. I won a cradle off ebay, paired it up and it all works. Happy days.
