my retrofit touchscreen vs my doubledin, lots of info
Hey J., the only thing is (to me) the fm modulator. You're gonna be pissed with today just being candid. The post I put up with Veff's box (right before your post) is the way to go. Takes all of 10-20 mins to install into the fibre optic loop etc. CD QUALITY SOUND LITERALLY because it's going thru the system...
You paid a bit much for the CVBS converter (HDMI TO AV) You coulda got that for about $10. & honestly, having the Android box sorta makes a DVD PLAYER null and void, because if it's set up correctly, EVERYTHING would be on your box. I took my Blu-ray player out of my Range Rover Sport & replaced it with an Android box bc I have it programmed with KODI, MOVIE HD, FLIXSTER & more, so there was NO need for the DVD player. My phone is my Wi-Fi hotspot...
Other than that, I think you're good...

I'm doing my own now and have posted my Project info a page back, I am in Conn and can help if need be but I am not a installer or mechanic...just a disabled Veteran nerd bored with software design and spends a lot of time @ home doing research
Thanks, good call on DVD Rom, must of been in a green haze but I will return it and get a couple more things. Do you know how to illuminate the Jaguar name on trunk?

Hi Dennis, how does one connect the sat nav wiring loom from the boot to the cabin control unit and the front sat nav head unit? I know how to connect the fibre optics and GPS antenna, but don't know the others including converting the manual dial heater to digital heater.
OK, going to mod cd, i figure i build computers and repair cell phones and electronics for my day to day so this should not be too hard, I'll take a look. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi, Everyone, love this thread, my install even gets a mention along the way, which is cool! My query is that the navtool video interface gets a lot of mention in this thread and I used a much cheaper unit from the Ukrainian company - Car-Solutions. The Navtool list price is $400 reduced to $200 whereas the Car Solutions unit is $140 or £101 for us in UK, and it does the same job, just sayin!!! Universal RGB Video Interface. Car Multimedia Adapter

So without the DVD player it simply won't function? That makes sense.
What are the solder points in cd player for the aux out cable, I see R-ch, L-ch are these correct? Where is the ground?
ok thanks for the tips here.. i have the auto climate controller, DVD player, touch screen missing the cables which is the fiber optics and the retro nav cable right?.. so the minimum requirements to activate the screen and make it work is to have these things? If yes.. how does the connection go just to complete my study:
from the source to the DVD rom please
from the source to the DVD rom please
How did you install the button to console? What drill bit or tool used?
