NAV install, possible?
My 2003 x-type came with the cd player stereo that conked out recently. I was just about to buy a replacement on ebay - where else, but then I saw refurbed factory NAV system... so question is can I just slap the oem NAV in and it should work or?...
I was just going to post the same question. My stereo is the cassette in the dash and the CD Changer in the trunk...not sure if that changes the answer to the original question (sorry not trying to hijack your post).
It is not a plug-and-play system. The nav head unit needs a satellite antenna, DVD unit in the boot as well as all the wires. I can't remember if the wiring is present in all cars but any time a component is added, then the head unit needs to be configured and a new optic link lead (BOF) installed in the 'LOOP'. Adding a CDDJ in the boot is easily done on any car but it must be configured to the car. I have never tried to add a NAV so I don't know if the harness is there.
