Need advice on a 2004 x type
My girlfriend is looking to buy a jaguar. she is looking at a 2004 x type with 83,000 miles for $8000 .the body and interior are in fair to great condition. owner says that car as had all the scheduled maintenance done. regardless i will be having my own jag dealer to an inspection on it.
what i would like to know from all x owners is your feedback..positive or negative.
what should i be looking at .

what do you mean the body and interior are in "fair to great" condition?
Who did the maintenance? Does the owner have documentation? Ask your Jag dealer to look the car up in the system and see what they can find - what's been done, replaced, etc.

i would go with a 2002-2003 it had a better awd system ..if you can find one with a warranty on it and low miles all you do is read my write up on transfer cases and it will be bullet proof
I have a 04 with 82,000 miles on her. Owned it for nearly 2 years it is my daily driver and had no problems at all . Make sure the T\C is quiet and the Drive shafts can be an issue. Repairs can be Pricey . But well worth the cost. My wife loves to drive mine.

It becomes very important to know the repair history of a 2002/2003, if you go back that far. The list of things replaced on my 2002 is extensive, however once completed the car should be fine. Things that were done were big and small, TC, 2 props, power steering rack, fuel sending unit, drivers seat track, water pump, etc.
and you'll only get 1 cupholder in the front.

That one cupholder is an honor you get to grant your better half. That way you can balance your hot cup of joe near your jewels while you drive. Ouch.
Check for whine from the propshaft (some had balance problems which werent picked up and many recalled)
Also check for tyre wear especially on inside edges
Doubt the dealer would normally check diff fluid with it not being part of the service schedule but might well if asked
