Default Need advice on maintenance

So I've had my 05 X-Type Sport 3.0 for about 3 years now and bought it with 50k on the clock and was "certified pre-owned". This was a single owner vehicle and she kept the maintenance records and seemed to be good. It now has 93,500 and I've always had the oil changed every 3k as well as the air and cabin filter replaced every other. Also had the 60k service done. I have not done much other than those few things though. The fluids have been topped up every oil change and I've had tire rotations done when I've put my summer/winter tires on. I am wondering judging by what I've had done to the car so far, what should I do to keep it running good? Right now it runs amazing and idles great and I want the car to last a long time. I've read that you should replace the spark plugs at 100k and I've also heard of people doing transfer case flushes. Is there anything else like these that I should have done soon? Thanks you guys!

3K oil changes? Yow, that's excessive. Either you're rich or you're making the oil and filter companies rich. Factory oil interval is 10K miles.

I'd review the OEM maintenance schedule and see what's required for 100K. Spark plugs will go far more than a miserable 100K, but there's no harm in doing them now.

The aftermarket Warranty we bought with our 2002 X-Type calls for oil changes at 2,500 miles or 90 days - whichever comes first. I think the idea behind that is mainly to give them a reason to disallow a warranty repair if you can't show all those oil changes.

To date, I've managed to squeeze about $8,500 USD worth the warranty repairs out of them (mostly the tranny), so I've been more than happy to keep up with the oil change requirement.

(At the very least, my receipts and repair log show them!)

I was using Castrol 5w-20 winter, and 10w-30 in summer until I read that the varible valve timing likes the 5w-20 best, year-round. Changing oil frequently has always made sense to me, there is NO WAY that a 10,000 mile interval has or will ever happen in any vehical of mine.

Only the best oil filters, too. I have read way too many horror stories about counterfit crap filters on the shelves of discount and department stores.

It may seem excessive, but methinks it is the cheapest form of insurance there is.

Mista, I would recommend doing the plugs, transfer case fluid change, rear differential fluid change, tranny fluid change, and radiator flush. I would also look into replacing the PCV valve (assuming it wasn't done at 60K miles).

Beyond that, look at the brake pads to make sure they are good and keep driving. Sounds like you are on the right track.

Going to bump. I am getting the transfer case and fluid flush next oil change. Then after that Spark Plugs and radiator flush!

Does anyone get the fuel filter replaced?

I do mine every 15K miles. It is a really easy thing to do.

Yes, I had my fuel filter replaced about a year ago. My car is also an '05, but with lower miles, 50K. One thing I just had done at the dealership is a fuel induction service. Car runs/idles great afterward. And it's cheap at around $160. Might be something to look into.
