my wife washed the car now i have a can bus failure // where should i look for water intrusion in the harness or connecters // see shifter problem for more of the story/// i am stumped and the dealer cant look at it for a week ... in a week i could fix it or burn it. help

 

Xtype can suffer from water coming down the windshield and into the air box cavity and onto/into the ecu connectors. This is most likely if truely from washing and not just a coincidence. Pull connectors, clean and dry with eletrical conatact cleaner, reassemble and hope for the best

 

check ecm connectors or in left side kick panel area arount the tcm

 

ecm connection clean and dry/thanks to my buddy with a 5 star anti tamper socket / checked and cleaned l/s kik pannel connections /i can read the ecu functions on the scaner but no commucation with can bus

 

check for blown fuses

 

Did she get the j-gate excessivly wet cleaning the interior? When ever we get a new detailed they usually fry a jgate in the first month and it can cause a can fault.

Also the previously mentioned tcm or possibly abs module if cleaned under the hood.

 

does the can bus make a connection in the drivers side door (lock window swich) she washed down the door /if so this could be it
