Default Need Help

Hello guys, please i need help to resolve an issue i am having with my Jag.

When i start my car in the morning it misfires and the engine does not run smooth at all. i got error codes P0191, P1316, P0300. I noticed whenever i turn on the engine when it is still hot or has been driven, the engine does not run rough. Also sometimes the codes clear on its own and i dont see any code when i scan. Also sometime when i am going up hill it stutters.

When was the last time you had your fuel filter replaced? That might be a place to start. From the codes you are getting it looks like a random misfire. Generally you would have a code specific to a cylinder, like P030X with X denoting the specific cylinder. Might also be your fuel pump starting to go. Could be a number of things. Start with the fuel filter if it has not been changed in a while and see what you have. That's the simplest, easiest and cheapest place to start.

P0191 is a problem with fuel (see the free workshop manual) and a misfire is hardly a surprise if it can't get fuelling right.

Also see the manual for P1316 and treat it as very serious or you may be buying a cat conv as well as whatever else is needed.

Id try swapping the fuel filter as its the cheapest option and may cure the problem also maybe try dropping some redex into the fuel tank before you look at the more expensive options that could cause the problem. Msybe your fuel pump is failing or the fuel rail Good luck!!

Verify correct mounting of the fuel filter - the arrow on it points to front of car. Two fuel pumps in last two months - I'd say check fuel pressure at the fuel rail on engine if you're able to.

Are you still getting error codes. Might be worth while changing the other spark plugs as well
