Need help finding engine number
My crankcase breather hose had fallen apart and the PCV valve should be replaced but when I look up the part for my 2002 X-Type 2.5 I discover that the part depends on my engine number. It seems that Jaguar made a mid-year change.
My problem is that I don't know where to locate this number. The manual says it "is stamped on an engine web on the right hand side of the cylinder block behind the engine mounting." I'm sure this is clear to some (many?) of you, but I don't know if I have to look down from the top, jack up the car and look up from the bottom, look from the front or one side or the other, remove parts to find it, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

Here you go!
The difference, by the way, is that the earlier PCV was vertical, and the hose had the bend, the later has a "L" shaped PCV and a straight hose.
As long as the hose and valve match, you're good to go.

Thank you very much! You answered both the primary question (which PCV valve) and secondary (where the @#$! is the engine number) in one simple post, complete with pictures!
