Default Need Help on Interior changes 2001 vs 2005 if any

Are there any changes between, let say, 2.1 litre (2001) and 2.2d newer (2005) models? I mean driver's dashboard, middle section (console)... or it's all the same as earlier model of 2001?

The only thing that's going to change post 04 is the steering wheel. Everything else may be built a little different, but the interior will look the same except for the steering wheel

I believe the <2004 only has a single cup holder in the center console, in comparison to the two cup holders found on the >2004.

The color of the AC controls, CD player, as well as the headlight switch also differ; slightly darker on the <2004.

The leather surface on the front and rear seats also have a different design.

I can't think of anything else.

There were much more changes in the European range of the X-type. The latest ones have different color dashboard, a once again facelifted steering wheel, different pattern on seats and door trims and etc.
For instance

I wish we had the same upgrades in the American X-types

Looking at that newer badge on the steering wheel/airbag cover makes me sick, sick with jealousy. The chrome part is fading on mine and it bugs me because it's the first thing you see when you get into the car. Sadly, you can't do anything about it unless you want to fork over $850 for a new airbag. Sigh.

I've got the newer grille, I've got the new badge style on my wheels, the stupid steering wheel badge is the only remnant of the "green" old design.

+1.

But there is an option to buy a used airbag from European X-type and ship it over here. I guess you can find some reasonable offers on ebay.uk

I'd love such quilted leather seats in dove, but they were never made in that colour. Maybe I'll have them made, one day...

But indeed, those were only in the last sport models I think.

The centre badge on the steering wheel can easily be removed, as long as you dont mind it NOT being used ever again! Its on by metal tabs which go through the airbag cover and are bent over. A flat bladed screwdriver can be used to prise the old horrible green one off, and a newer one stuck on. Gragner66 you wont be the first to of done that, its a popular mod to use the centre cap off the wheels. It looks great in red btw Those dials tho.......i want

Could you post a how-to or maybe a video showing how to do this? If replacing it doesn't involve buying a new airbag I'm fine with ruining the old one to remove it.
