i have just left my x type with a daughters ex boyfriend for a oil change and filter, i said to him i need to find a bit more power,
he said leave it with me and he will ring me when he has done. well god knows what he has done but wow wee, this is a monster i think he has chipped it up to death. it wheel spins in first and second,
and he has had the gearbox out
i said how much ? £100
do you think this will burn out or have i got a 330 hp x type demon.

If you have the AWD version(2.5/3.0) watch the transfer box, it is a known weak point!! the rest(2.1/2.0/2.2) are FWD and should be OK, within reason!!!

Not to burst your bubble, but my guess the car was not running properly when you gave it to him and he addressed the issues and it is now running the way it should. It just feels so much better because you got used to what it was before. There is no magic chip or other simple power additions to the X. Either way, glad you are enjoying your "new car".

Make sure you let us know what he all did and why he took the gearbox out. That is a lot of work for 100 pounds.

This looks like one of those things that adds a resistor to the IAT sensor to fool the engine into thinking the incoming air temperature is lower and adds more fuel. Basically snake oil. Been discussed on here a bunch of times through the years, but not lately. Do a search on here and you'll find alot of posts about chips, adding horsepower, etc.

For me all I need to ask myself is if these sorts of things were legit don't you think that a manufacturer that has a lot of resources and engineering talent and that spends millions and millions of dollars into trying to squeeze every last bit of mileage and horsepower out of an engine would miss something like this that would cost $50?

Glad you are liking the new performance of your car, but I don't think it is because of that thing.
