Default New fogs?

Ok, so I want to upgrade my fogs to HIDs. I'm ready for the work that's involved with it, and actually kind of look forward to it. However, I don't know what color to go with. The current set up is 8k HID main beams with color matched LED city lights, and stock yellowish halogens.

Now on some applications, I like the yellow fog look. Not the stock halgoen bulbs, but a bulb that is meant to be yellow.. as in the 3k HIDs. Like these..

... -or-, should I order another set of 8k HIDs to match the main beams, and have all the lights on the front of the car the same color? Too much blue? Something tells me that the "golden yellow" HIDs would look nicer from the driver's seat.

Comments? Ideas? What does everyone think?
Thanks gang!

Looks really sharp..My personal taste would be to keep the yellowish look as that is what fogs are suppose to look like...IMO

310, why not consider a 6000k HID setup for the fogs? It seems like the blue/white combination would be a great look and give some serious brightness in the fogs. In any case, I'd be really interested in the conversion itself, as I'm about to install HID's in my headlamps but wanted to give some consideration to doing the fogs as well.

FYI....if I do, I'll probably go the opposite of what I recommended to you 6000K's in the headlamps and 8000K's in the fogs, for a little blue added to my white headlamps.

310jag, are those HID high beams you have? or is that what you meant by "city lights"?

beelab, I thought about going one shade off the headlights, but I think I want either the exact same color, or serious contrast.

vegas, those are LED pieces that a friend of mine made for me. They features two 4mm wide angle blue/white LEDs... one firing forwards, and the other down and towards the center of the housing. They're quite bright, and I'm very happy with the color match to the headlights.

jason, I'd love to see some pics of the all 6k setup. I look forwards to seeing the pics.

But I don't know.. the pics of that Lexus really appeals to me.. ^^

What year is your X-Type? I'm still having trouble finding some HID's for my fogs. The bulbs are H1's but the mounting harness is something else.

Does anyone know?

i have looked on cardomain.com and have found that the best looking and most moded cars just have those "painted" bulbs in the **** to match or off set the HID main lights. it looks good and sounds cheap and easy. has anyone done gthis to there X?

gotti-- Mine is an 02. I'm not sure about the details on the fogs.. I believe they are indeed an H1, but require some modification of the housing to fit properly.

vegas-- PLEASE stay away from the painted bulbs! They're incredibly cheap, get extremely hot, and eventually the paint/coating flakes off. I've been through countless sets of those with other cars, and they all suck. Every one of them. LEDs will really be the best way to go, and are only a few dollars more. A few good websites have been posted on here for LEDs, try looking back a page or two.
These have been popular for the front running lights and license plates lights.

Jvegas my buddy had a set of the rainbow bulbs in the fogs of his bonneville and I thought it looked sweet with his 6k hid kit in his headlights. Those bulbs can be had for 15 bucks but they aren't painted rather the glass is like that actual color...

He's since went to 6k and 6k all hid which looks great as well. I'd say try the 3k hid kit and if you don't like buy a set of bulbs from the same place you order them from. If its mydepot you used you can get a set of bulbs for 38 shipped to you...I'd probably just spend the extra money and get a whole new set or get one 3k kit and one 6k kit...

Keep in mind that the fogs change depending on year. I found this out when I had jason order bulbs and his are a different number than h1...

well i have the 6k hids being installed today for the headlights. i also got a set of bright white Led's for the inner "city" lights. I was just thinking of getting a different color bulb for the fogs. i don't think the HID set up for the fogs is worth all the work and money. what type of bulds would you recomend for the fogs as far as look goes? i can see fine at night so light output from the fogs is not that important to me. thanks
