Thank yourself lucky - mine had a hugely irritating yellow snowflake light at any temperature 5 degrees C or below which stays on all the time until the outside temperature rises above this point.I know dealerships can turn this off however, what a stupid feature. A warning, fine, but to remain lit without any way of the driver cancelling it is an oversight.

My yellow warning light doesn't stay on, but I get the same "low outside temperature" warning at anything below 40 degrees F. You can push the button on the end of the stalk and it will go off for a few seconds, but then comes right back on. It stays on until the temp rises well above 40 degrees. Looks like that won't happen until about April.

I get this and it's driving me potty. It's staying on though due to the stupid price to have it taken off. Some of the electronics on the X type really are cheap,

I think in the US it was only on the early 2002-2004 cars, maybe before they changed some of the electronic things in 2004. I had a 2005 and thankfully I never had that on mine and it surely would have come on at some point living in Wisconsin. Either that or the previous owner before me somehow had it disabled. Always thought those things were stupid. I mean, you walked out to the car and you could see what it looked like outside and could feel what the temperature was and even if you were driving a long time or went into the mountains you could see what the outside temperature was.

Yep similar experience.
We get a lot of frost in the UK.
Come out to car 6.30 am. It's covered in frost as is the ground.
Slip on bum "several times"
Find scraper. Scrape frost off side windows.
Hands are now freezing.
Get in car, switch on, get the annoying snowflake sign that wont go off.
What's it telling me?

THAT IT'S COLD.

Thank you Mr Jaguar designer "you are a genius".

Yup, yup. Bought my kitty in NJ & drove it back to Utah last March in the last huge blizzard of the season. Started in Iowa, through Nebraska, Wyoming (got stuck there late @ night, freeways closed) to Utah. Did not gave any light or message center warnings.

It's more use when it starts off, but as you drive along it warns you - so you know the outside is colder than you may have known.

The rest of the time it's a pest. (Minor IMO.)

You can turn on/off the message and the chime and reset the temperature threshold with the SDS/IDS software.

Mine is set so that the message is sent only below zero, and it clears as soon as I hit the buttob on the stalk.

The car also plings at me once at 34şF and three times at 32şF along with the ice warning message. I drive up and down through the mountains here, and you can drive in and out of freezing roads half a dozen times between here and the children's hospital...the pling helps to keep me from getting stupid!

I think we all appreciate this. But not personally owning the software can be a bit expensive. Certainly over here.

Not expensive to get an indy to change it if it's driving you "potty".

We get a few cold days every year, after all.

If by "An indy" you mean an independent jag agent the only one local that I would trust with plugging anything into my car wants Ł40 to do this.
A lot of money to me.
Perhaps you are rich!

It was 9*F outside when mine showed. Perhaps it is not working correct if it is meant to warn of possible icy conditions.
I can imagine the irritation of the snowflake, not sure if that was on.

They can be all over the map. I think a lot of US dealers just set up "whatever" in their basic file and flashed that in before delivery.

In the software, you can control so many different things. I'm pretty sure you can use the Mongoose (Mangoose) rig to set most of the parameters, too.

If you have the "Information Centre" display, you won't have the snowflake.

I preciated if that message appeared on my house door to remind me to bundle up before I go out side, but in my car? I already out side to get in my car, do I need this message? It's irritated me when it came up, turn it off and it come right back in few second.

Beg to differ - I have the information centre and the yellow snowflake. A Brucie bonus, clearly...!

Just thought I'd crawl out from under my rock to mention that when my low temp warning shows, I briefly press the reset button (for the mpg / trip meter reader etc) and it stays off until the temperature rises and drops to 4°again.

I'd be well chuffed if it works for anyone else, it'd mean I've contributed to this great forum!😊

Every car I've had since, oh, 2000, has had this "feature". American, Korean, Japanese, British. Some cars at 39, some at 38. The snowflake shows up and stays on until the temperature increases.
