Question New paws for my X Type Cat?

I'm buying new tires for my 2003 X type with stock wheels. I' m interested in hearing suggestions for: Brand, size and width, that will have full clearance and will not do any damage to the transmission or transfer case. Any members who have had good experiences I would love to hear about them. I'm looking for maybe 60,000 mile tires reasonably priced.

I am running on Bridgestones currently .. coming up to 10,000 miles on them no issues and combined with my awd seems to stick pretty well whatever the weather..

If you get a chance it's well worth going to the 'CP' button on the top right of any page here and updating your signature with your car details inc year, model, and trim level.. it ensures anyone replying to your posts knows they are giving you the right info for the car you have :-)

Thanks for the info Steve. I was thinking about Bridgestones. Do you know what size will fit my car or the widest I can run with no clearance or damage issues? I currently have Uniroyal Tiger paws 205-55-16. I still want to run the stock rims. Will wider tires cause any damage to transfer case or tranny?

I'm not the best one to ask on this - you will likely get quite a few responses though from those that do :-) all I can say is that I have had no grip issues at all, and 10,000 miles later it looks like quite a few miles to go yet on them

What size tires are you running on your X?

Everything is pretty much standard on my X-Type from the tyres right through to the genuine 'fitted from new' tape deck :-) the only exceptions being my lower front grill, new tail pipes, clear side indicators, Kenwood CD changer, and USB power sockets - hmm, thinking back it's not *that* standard in truth lol.. but yes it is standard wheels and tyres :-)

Although I'd never have tried them if they weren't new on the car when I got it, and they are just slightly noisier inside than my preferred tire choices, my car has a set of Mastercraft MC-440 205 55-16s.

Good wearing, surprisingly good grip everyday tires, made by Cooper, and very inexpensive!

I actually would not hesitate to use them again!

Default Continental Pure Contact

I just put on the CONTINENTAL Pure Contacts in the stock base model size. Very well rated and reasonable price on tirerack.com. I am quite impressed so far...

I just bought 4 new BF Goodrich tires but I didn't get them on yet. Would like to know if anyone has tried them. I read a lot of good reviews about them. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....V6&autoModClar=

Wider tires will not hurt anything, its having different diameter tires between the front and rear that can cause issues. You can go up to a 225 width easily.

205/55ZR16 are the stock size tire for my car. I wanted to stay the same size. I am going to put all 4 on.

I am wearing Michelin Primacy MXV4 and have had zero wear issues going on 15k miles on them. They look like new still and are quiet on the highway. No road noise. They handle great and helped soften my ride since I have the Sport suspension package. Still tight in the corners too!
