Unhappy No crank off key

Hi I’m new to this forum. I have a xtype 2.0d 2005 which I have just fitted a new chain too. Bought as a non runner and the car had been stood for over a year. Dash lights up but doesn’t crank on key. Put a signal live to starter and it cranks but won’t fire. Noticed the immobiliser light flashes after a minute 2-4 code. I’ve scanned over various threads and tried checking for broken wires under rad and switch in footwell. Please someone help it’s slowly breaking me ;(

First check that the immobilizer switch is not tripped.

There are also quite a few reports of long unused cars sitting that the ECU "forgets" the PATS code picked up from the top part (antenna) of the key fob being read by the column transmitted to ECU. IF this is the case, needs dealer level software to reprogram it.

In the UK there is independent that can do it =
