Default No More Leaper - Better Solution

I bought one of these. I'll be damned if someone else steals another $150 leaper off my hood. There's one more left.

I replaced my stolen leaper with one of these last month. I didn't know there was a 3 litre one, however. I bought a 4 litre one from an xk. It looks decent but cost about $150 less than a new leaper.

I'd like to have the leaper also, but even with a removable leaper, you still risk it being stolen...which is specifically what I'm trying to avoid.

I'd just hate to be in the mall or something and come back out to a missing leaper, again.

I replaced my leaper with a "3.0 Sport" badge. It's an S-type badge but since my X is a 3.0l Sport it looks great.

Here's a picture of my tighter weave mesh grill from Atlanta Jaguar(off of eBay) as well. Sorry, it's nite time so can't get a better shot of how car looks with the badge vs Leaper.Lower mesh grill is from Jag XP and you've all seen those.

I had no idea there was a 3.0 Sport badge. I guess I should have researched a little more. Mine looks exactly the same except is says 4.0 Litre. It looks more obvious on a a silver car than mine (Jaguar Racing Green).

Question: Does that make me like one of those ******* who puts ///M badges on his regular BMW or AMG badges on his regular Merc? I hope not...I hate those guys!

Yours is too small to throw you in the "poser" class. The MB guys want to show off as they drive around. Anyone reading yours as you're driving better get the hell out of the way!

Of course, that's why Ralph Nadar said the leapers must be break away and they are illegal in the UK. It's to protect pedestrians. (Forget the fact that following the leaper is a two ton object traveling at speed!) I can see it now:

"Hey! That car isn't really a 4.0!" [splat!]

I would love this alternative, but my x-type is a pesky 2.5L.

I suppose it's the same sods that "cop a feel" on the bus or subway. They know they're never going to get the whole thing so they try for what's available. Very sad in both situations.

Looks nice, but I love my leaper. I think the leaper is what sets the Jag apart.

Seen a few of those on Jags this side of the pond...............look pretty cool
I know to most of you guys, specially our American members its sacrilage, but I've never been a huge fan of the leaper.
