The biggest problem with noise diagnosis is the customer's complaints that are lost in translation when they have to speak to a service advisor, who often doesn't know a spark plug from a steering wheel. Then, they have to write a repair order and explain to a technician what the customer's issue is. It's such a crappy way to get things done. Often, direct customer to tech contact or a tech riding with a customer to verify the complaint will answer many questions and pinpoint issues well before the car is put on a lift.
AGREED 100%

I had a similar tirenoise, took it in 3 times to Jaguar dealer. The first 2 times they balanced the tires and i paid 60 each time. The noise continued. It was a whirling noise from the tires. The third time, i told them to look at the bearings. Long and behold, the left front bearing was bad. They replaced it and no more annoying noise.

Err Dunhill, mate...........not to state the obvious, but, I hope you argued your case over the £120 you paid for the "balancing" to fix the problems, that were not required!
I know I bloody would've.[:@]

I must admit to having a drumming noise from the tires. I am sure it is tyres as when I ran Pirelli P Zeros the car was silent. But since changing to some used Michelins I get this constan drumming noise. Thought it was a damaged tyre and wheel, but had these replaced and noise still there. In for service & MOT soon so guess if it is more serious than tyres I'll find out

Once you know what the noise is, turn up the radio and ignore it.
Just whatI was going to post. Having owned several MG's this is the best option, something loud and pumping and pump up the volume. Also works well with whining kids and husbands

Speaking of that man I love having the controls on the side of the steering wheel so you can nonchalantly turn the radio up or down...mines going to end up breaking with as immature as I am!
