Default OBD codes not reading?

Hi,

I've tried multiple different OBD sensors on my vehicle in the past week because my "check engine" light is on, but unfortunately, I have not been able to get any codes. Every OBD sensor says "Trouble reading" or something along the lines of that. What can be the cause of this problem? It used to work if that will help.

Maybe a fault at the OBD socket or its wiring. Check related fuse(s) if any.

ragekage, you may want to try and go after doing the codes via the instrument cluster. It takes a little more work and an understanding of hexidecimal numbers, but it can be obtained that way. If you want to know more, let me know and I will assist. Reading the codes is not quite a "straight forward" thing. You will be given a 4 digit number (vice the 5 digit from the OBD port) and then you have to decifer what it all means.

I have to agree with JagV8, odds are, you have a wiring problem with the OBD port which could very well be leading to your fault code too.

The cluster codes are commonly years old rather than current and are only those the cluster knows about. If you can clear them first in the cluster, fine - but you'll struggle!
