Oil Change When?
Have had a 2005 X-Type for about six months now. Called the service department at my Jaguar dealership some time ago about bringing it in for an oil change and the fellow on the other end said I only needed to change the oil every 10,000 miles. Never heard that in my life. Anybody have any insights? How often, or how many miles, between oil changes on these babies?

RE: Oil Change When?
Everyone has an opinion on this subject. Personally I consider 10K miles way too long to keep oil in your engine. On the low side, some people suggest 3,000 miles, and the rational high side is about 5-6,000 miles.
Alot depends on how the car is driven. Shorter, more frequent trips take a toll on your oil's condition, so change more often.
On my weekend hobby car that gets driven 2000 miles per year, I only change about every 18 months. On the other cars, including the Jaguar, I change at 5,000 or one year, whichever comes first. PS. I use sythetic, but that's another separate discussion. gordo
