Default Opinions on 18" Proteus wheels.

I'm thinking I want a set of 18" Proteus wheels on my X-Type, if I can find a set and get them here. First of all I would like to hear what others' experiences have been with them. Easily bent like first gen Arubas?

Bump...

Seriously, maybe someone from across the pond could give an opinion since the Proteus is more prevalent in the UK.

No experience with those but I've never cared for the rivets.

I would have loved a set of these...

They are o.k , very oem+ in style. Did consider them , but a bit too ordinary for the look i was going for. They are some very nice wheels out there for the x type. Why not try something a bit more different?
I went for 18" Dotz roadsters myself , polished rim with anodised gunmetal ( matt grey ) centers. On a british racing green car , looks very mean looking , without being too ganster! The colour of the centers matches all the standard sport front grills. Maybe the proteus are not that popular over there , which means they will stand out. Good hunting.

I've got OEM 17" Sport wheels (some call them Aguilas) and an aftermarket set of 18" Antera 323s in silver with chrome lip. Something in the Proteus wheel just speaks to me. I've considered Arubas but, the original Aruba, not the Aruba Performance haven't been that great in holding up to anything but smooth as glass roads. Or so I've read. As well the Arubas look too similar to the Sport wheels I already have. Having said all that, the Proteus IS fairly scarce in Canada so it would be nice to be different but still Jaguar.

Sidewalk, a fine set of Arubas you have.

Got a quote from an Alberta dealer for a set of Proteus wheels. $652/wheel. Could probably get them down to $550 each and he thought that was a bargain! Ouch. Could be here within the month as one is available in New Jersey, two in California but 27 available in UK. Hmmmm...something tells me that if I bend one I will be real sorry I got them in the first place. I better put my thinking cap back on.

Ouch , did the conversion to British pounds , they are seriously expensive. Are all alloy wheels expensive in Canada ? For that price i could buy BBS or Momo's alloys over here. Ever thought of ordering from the UK? Might work out cheaper including post and packaging.
Don't want to start off an international incident , but what about ordering from the good old USA ? When i had my Honda accord coupe , it cheaper and quicker to mail order from the USA then buy in the UK.

Looked at getting from the UK but having trouble finding anyone who would ship them. Local post or pick up is about all our friends over there will do. The ones I'm looking at are from a place in the States. $1500 all in. Already done.

That is way too much money for those rims. BBS or momo's would be my way to go over buying those.
