Default Orifice tube replacement

Need to know if anyone has replaced a orifice tube on a 2003 x type . Jag parts tells me the tube can be replaced but it looks like the tube is made in the evap inlet hose.

Yeah the oriface tubes come out. You just have to find something that will get it. I always used seal picks.(looks like a dentist tool) Get new o-rings and don't leave the system open or the drier will suck up moisture. If you need to change the oriface due to it taking "flack" then you will need to flush the system and you may need to replace the suction accumulator.

Have you done AC work before? You need to vacuum that system down to at least 28 inches of mercury for a while to boil out any moisture before recharging.

you mean like a scribe pick, and which end do you take it out of, evap side or line connection side at fender.

A little screw driver can work. Its just a CCOT system. A seal pick has a straight point on one end and a sharp hook end on the other.

The oriface tube is going to be where the line from the condensor meets the evaporator. The suction/accumulator is after the evap and before the compressor.

On an expansion valve system the receiver/drier is before the evap. On a CCOT the "drier" is inside the suction/accumulator and after the evap.

CCOT=cycle clutch oriface tube

After removing the inlet hose i found the union where the orifice is.
It was covered by a wiring sleeve and zip tied to the line.

Default Orifice Tube???

I just replaced my compressor and drier but cannot seem to find where the orifice tube goes. I've looked inside all pieces that have been removed and what is on car. Any ideas? Photos would be great if any...I have done some A/C work before but not a Jag.

We have to know year and model of the car. Engine size too please. If you have a drier and not a suction/accumulator, then you won't have an oriface tube. You would have an expansion valve system.

Default Orifice Tube

Thanks for the help. I found the orifice tube on the passenger side just under the front windshield inside the engine compartment. I was hidden by some plastic mesh held on by twist ties. Somewhat of a tight area to het at. The use of two open ended wrenches did the job. Now I am running down the road with an ice cold system blowing at me, after recharging the system. Not sure if it matters now, but the car is an 02 X-type with 2.5 engine. The orifice tube was easy to get out. All I used was a pair of needle nose pliers, replaced the o-rings to.

Oh. I've replace ac compressor etc. When I went to fill freon it was reading extremely high after half a can and recommended oil. Assuming theres a clog somewhere causing it to backpressure? I'm a idiot and assumed, like on my caddy, filter was inside the dryer unit and didnt replace orfice tube.I cant find this sucker though anywhere? 2003 jag v6 2.5 thanks again guys.
