Default Outside Temp not on the money

I really have no complaints about my 02 x-type 2.5. I have been a machanic all my life until a life changing accident. Now I do computers, but turn wreachs for myself. But has anyone ever had the outside temp be about 9 degrees off, and the readout block comes up with "outside temp low". When the outside temp readout reads below 40 degrees, the outside temp in the block stays on. Does anyone think there could be a problem with the temp computer?? There are no other problems, every thing else works fine. Think I should just leave it alone, instead of opening up a can of worms> Thanks for any replys.

It is normal for the "low outside temp" reading to stay on when the sensor indicates it is less than 40 degrees. If you scroll down the page a bit you will see a thread that discusses the outside temp sensor and its location. I would start there if I were you.

If you press the "Reset" button below the headlight switch the "Low Outside Temp" message will go away.

When I shut it off, it just comes back. But like it was said after 40 degrees it comes on and stays on untill the outside temp goes above 40.
