Part found in trunk. Any ideas?
It's a trunk lid actuator. Have a look at this fairly similar thread:

It is a trunk popper. When you hit the trunk unlock button on your key fob, this is what pops the trunk up slightly so it doesn't re-latch. If you open the trunk/boot, on the hinge, you will find a hole in the middle of the hinge that this thing attaches too. Do you need it, no (I lost mine a long time ago). But, it does make getting into the trunk/boot easier.
Ah hah! Maybe my car is missing this? When I pop the trunk with the key fob it always relatches!
Edit: my poppers are in there. Maybe they're just getting soft with age ;-)

The dealer calls them "trunk plungers." There should be two, one one each hinge of the trunk lid.
My passenger side plunger just cracked. $16 at the dealer to buy replacement part. Refreshingly inexpensive. Takes 10 seconds to pop the new part into place.
