Performance Thread Sticky?
I just got my X about 2 weeks ago, and I haven't found much in terms of getting more power out of my X. I have the 2.5L mated to the manual, which is enough to zip around town, but I could always use more power
Any ideas?

I hear this all the time and this is my responce..trade it in for a 3.0
I couldn't find a 3.0L manual in my area at the time I wanted to buy. I figured I could get the usual I/H/E and get at least another 20 HP, but apparently it's hard to find these parts at all.
Considering the 2.5L is a Ford? engine, I didn't think it'd be this hard to find performance parts.

Wrong its a modified version which is why it has more power to start with then the 2.5 Ford engine. It has modified head, ecu, etc.Ford ECUs are a lot easier to remap eg superchips than the X.

It's a modified version of the Ford 2.5L, which still makes it a Ford engine. Mind you, there is a Ford 2.5L that just so happens to make the same power...Think Ford Countour SVT...
Ford Contour...whats one of them...must be a US car??
The most significantcarry overs from the Mondeo are the suspension, brakes and basic engine block(I'll repeat that incase you missed it basic engine block) but so much work has been done on each of these components by Jaguar that it hardly seems fair to describe them as Ford cast offs.(Not your words I know)
Taken from X type The inside Story:-
Both 2.5 and 3.0 engines are derived from the AJ-V6 already used in the S Type, itself already derived from the AJ-V8 as used in the XK8.Jaguar has spent a lot of developmentdiminishing the shortfall between the smoothness of the counterbalanced V8 and the inherent shortfall with the V6.The 2.5 is derived from the 3.0.There is a wide torque spread to help driveability with over 90% of peak torque available from 2500-6000rpm and 80% from 1500-6800rpm.
2 key features contribute to this..the constinuously variable (not 2 position) cam [hasing on the inlet cams, plus variable induction geometry. Two butterfly valves in the induction manifold/plenumopen or close under control of a 32 bit Denso egine management computer to feed air seperatly to each bank of 3 cylinders or link them to exploit beneficial resonances. The 2 butterflies allow 4 operating modes (closed/closed,closed/open,open/closed,open/open) three of which are exploited. The variable cam phasing, a drive by wire throttle, new 12 hole fuel injectors and a close coupled catalysers (1 per bank) help the engine meet EU4 emissions standard and LEV regs in US and Canada.
Now go compare to your Ford Contour/Mondeo...
