Put some lube in there, and let it set in for a while. There's no secret with the X-Type or any other car. Chances are, the lug nuts are frozen and need to be lubed.

Keep tuggin at it. They have to come loose eventually. However, don't force it too much. I had a Honda Prelude some years ago, and I broke 4 studs trying to get a tire off...

You don't take the covers off the lug nuts. Take the whole thing off.

cal me dense, but I never heard of a lug nut cover, I didn't even know there was such a thing. I have had tight lug nuts before, usually those installed with an air gun at a dealer that I had to try to remove via muscle power. Leverage and time did the trick.

if you strip the cover ie the chrome cover from the lug nut pull the chrome cap off and use 18mm impactsocket and drive the socket onto the damaged nut
and breaker bar to remove it
worst case scenerio if that doesnt work which it should
is the old drilling the nut from the stud:-(

Hi andi88..........Its usually considered good manners to introduce yourself and your vehicle with a brief write up in the newbie section before you just pile in and ask for help!
Please also try to describe the topic you are listing rather than just " PLEASE HELP"

Good luck with your fix.....Please let us know how you got on.

Thanks

Jim

Get it to a dealer or local tire shop and have them deal with it! Do you have AAA?

the trick is to use an air hammer. changinga tire is pretty universal, if the lug nuts are sticking put some serious tq to it. If all else fails call AAA.

Hear me now people! ( I like saying that ), I had a blowout on Valentines day, and I couldnt get the friggin lug nuts to loosen - not a single one of them! The tire iron sold with the car seemed to be slightly too big, because while I was trying to loosen the nuts, the tire iron would slip off of the nuts (actually the chrome covers). Believe me, I have changed tons of flat tires before, using all sorts of tools. This was pathetic, considering this is the equipment sold with the car.

In the end, I didnt have time to wait for a tow truck (I was on the Brookly/Queens Expressway going to pick up my wife for dinner), so I drove with hazard lights on to the next exit and found a mechanic with an air gun to remove the wheel. After he changed the wheel, he told me where I could find a tire shop and I bought another tire. I'll be changing all 4 tires in a few weeks, but I digress. Sometime this week I'll be looking for a proper tire iron that fits this car's wheels so that I can change a flat tire myself, instead of looking like a lost mommy's boy [X(]

LOL! From what I've heard almost everyone has had a problem with the stock alloys on these cars.

I love how the wheels look on the car, but being stranded by a silly flat tire is crazy. I wouldve thought they'd put a useful tire iron in the trunk.

So which one is worse that dangerous jack or a crappy iron???

That is precisely what the mechanic who took off my wheel recommended! I will take his and your advice. I hated the feeling of being stranded because of a dumb tire How could it happen to me? In the past, I have changed tires in a business suit, in the rain, and not dirty anything accept my gloves.

Also keep a prybar in there. Sometimes the wheels seize to the hub and only way to get them off is with prybar against the ball joint or lower arms.

Right on Bo..I always put a little synthetic hi-temp grease on..and if you don't have any of that, just lightly smear a very little amount of vasoline.
