Please help!!!!! Having a nightmare with a few problems.
Hi hope everyone is ok. So basicly iv bought a 2009 2.2 auto x type estate with 90,000 miles (ish) it was damaged with light front end damage but it started up and drove everything worked as it should. So we repaird the car fitted new rad and fan cooling system but while this was happing plus other jobs and other things few weeks past with the car having no battery on. So now we put the car back together tried to start the car. Problem 1 the car will not even try to start or turn over. Problem 2 got a dsc system fault coming up. Problem 3 we have a solid red light on the center console. And poss problem 4 on the auto gear stick pannle it is not lighting up any more as when I parked it up while in park the "p" was lit up. Been told it may be a immobiliser problem so any info would be great or if anyone has a magic wond could I borrow it cheers
Could be as simple as changing the battery. Start there first. The battery can go without any warning. Either get it load tested or just buy a new battery and see where you are. Hardly doubt it would be the immobiliser if it started before.
My guess is a fault with the CAN connection between the ECU and the ABS modules and the Instrument Cluster. (I've seen this problem before on a very minor front end impact - took me 2 days to find it!). The loom connecting them runs from ECU to ABS and then down and around the front end near the radiator and up the LH inner wing.
You will need the detailed wiring diagrams and do some pin tests on the CAN circuit (simple continuity tests on the circuit should be enough to check if this is the issue).
