Lightbulb Pondering: Auto to Manual swap - X-type

Hello internet friends,

I've found some Part-out X-types on Craigslist with manual transmissions, and I was wondering the possibilities of an automatic to a manual swap using the Salvage'd vehicles parts?
I understand that anything is possible with enough money, but would it even be worth doing?

There are many reasons to swap the transmission out.
Personally I think you should do it and keep us updated on your progress.

Why not? Manual cars are more fun to drive and the transmission itself is cheaper than the auto..

To the OP... I haven't really looked into swapping a manual into an X Type before but from past experience with other cars I can tell you that you will need the tranny, shift linkage, pedal array, and probably the driveshaft and ECU. Thermo might be able to fill in more details of other parts that might not match up from an auto to manual car.

I own a manual and the transmission should bolt right up, but you will put a lot of work in to get the linkage and everything hooked up. I own a 3.0 sport manual and it was HARD to find, but I would just try to buy a new jag with a manual

I looked into this as well, but I lost track of the parts needed once they exceeded one page. In my case I bought mine new, I pamper it like crazy, so I'd be a fool to hand it over to someone else to enjoy in exchange for a manual trans model that I have no clue how it was treated.

I'll survive with the auto trans until the car dies, and then I'll make it up to myself by getting a manual AMG something (or an R something).

The alternator has to be replaced as well. As they are different for the auto and manual.
