Default Possible to hook up sub on factory stereo?

Is it possible to hook up a single sub or a basstube on the factory stereo? Obviously I'd have an amplifier for it, but can I wire an amp into the stock stereo somehow?

Amps to drive subs need a lot of power. It would need to be wired from the battery, with an appropriately sized wiring/fuse kit, to the amp.

I understand that but are there connections on the back of the factory stereo so that I can make an amp work with it? I'm not buying an aftermarket stereo which is why I ask

I believe that there are no phono cables for an Amp on the std OEM stereo. There are two options for you. You can get an amp with line in cables which will take the stereo spker cables and split and amplify the signal or you can buy a line in processor similar to the Rockford Fosgate. , 3 sixty 1

There are cheaper models I just did a quick search

im pretty sure all you need is one of these -

I have it on my audi in order to connect an amp, the loose wires splice into the appropriate L and R channels of your speakers behind the headunit and you plug your RCA from the amp into the module.

And while you have the interior apart to run the RCA line, you can also run the power from the battery.

How about this, follow the step by step instructions for wiring in a powered sub to the factory radio: http://mydrive.roadfly.com/blog/ChrisX/
