Default Question about changing 06 x type radio, amp & sub

I wanna change the stock radio out in my X type & put in a radio with a usb & aux slots. I also wanna Know what would be best for a sub, 2 12s or 1 15 with a good amp. Whats the best sound system for the Jag??? Will doing all of this disable my steering wheel audio control or mess anything up

Yes, you can replace stock radio with with that of the usb & aux slots and it is best if you choose 2 12s. I think Bang & Olufsen and Bose are good for audio system. it is very important to connect the connectin between the steering and new audio, by doin this the audio system works finely and can be controlled through the steering.

Default Just did it myself

I just upgraded my Jag's stereo and while I can't help with the "2 12s or 1 15" question, I can tell you that Metra (www.metraonline.com) has the adapter to keep your steeering wheel controls working. I also bought the new mounting fascia and wiring harness from them.

If you end up needing any help, post back here and maybe I can offer some assistance based on my recent experience.

I was also wondering if I would be able to replace the radio. It looks like it would be complicated. I have a 10" Alpine touch screen radio. Would I be able to install this without screwing up anything else?

Default How to replace stereo with non stanard

You'll need the following bits available off ebay.

JAGUAR X-Type Car Steering Wheel Stalk Adaptor PC99-X47

JAGUAR X-Type Car Steering Wheel Stalk Adaptor PC99-X47 | eBay

JAGUAR S-Type, X-Type 2001> Car CD Stereo Fitting Kit Fascia, Wiring ISO Aerial

JAGUAR S-Type, X-Type 2001> Car CD Stereo Fitting Kit Fascia, Wiring ISO Aerial | eBay

Also attached is a manual of how to fit the above bits.

That's what I've done. My stereo (Panasonic DEH-P55BT) is blue tooth and plays mp3 CD's Which fit about 10 albums on so no need for a cd changer if you can be bothered to rip your CD's to Mp3 then make a data cd of the albums.

I've also attached a 3.5mm audio jack cable so I can watch telly on my phone and use the in car audio system. That hides neatly away when not in use.

I admit it's not as neat as the factory standard, but far more practical. The only problem with my stereo is that the clock only displays when it's on standby, which is kind of annoying. So make sure you get a stereo with a clock which you can display during playback of your music is my advice on that front.

Alternatively you can get a jaguar audio connectivity module.

I've attached a pdf of how to fit that, but it looks a bit too fiddly for my skills.

You can get them fitted by your Jaguar dealer.

Jaguar UK - The Jaguar Audio Connectivity Module is now available

Hope this helps.

Default compatibility

Please check the back of your non standard stereo or contact the seller to make sure the bits are compatible. Some stereos do not have an input for steering wheel controls. Also you may need a different aerial adapter.

Thanks a bunch. That's going to help so much. Just one more question. I noticed in the pdf that a smaller radio needs the radio housing. Would that be the case for bigger touch screen radio?

Not sure, You'll have to check the dimensions with the supplier, but you may be able to carefully remove the cross piece to create one large hole rather than two small slots, or ask if he does a different one for full screen stereos.

Cheers,
