Default A question regarding aftermarket mufflers

This question is specifically directed toward those brave souls who have installed aftermarker mufflers on their X's. Other than improved auditory sensation have you any verified improvement in either fuel mileage or acceleration? I am a new owner of an 05 Sportwagon. Extensive modifications include, Karl's airbox mod, black mesh grill, and a trailer hitch.

With restrictive cat up front youll be hard pushed to notice any difference and apparently some which claim power increases actually decrease the power as the stock system is good given the restrictions.A new back box would give a different exhaust note and because of this you may think its quicker.

I have the Borlas; no real gains that I noticed, but it sounds and looks better!

PS The AWD system will also eat a lot of the power...see my quads on youtube for the power results at the end.
Luckily they were only bought for the looks

Disco, there really isn't a location under the car to put the cats that would keep them close enough to the engine to provide adequate heat to make them effective. So, you are pretty limited in what you can do. One of the downsides to owning an X-Type.

ok, I can not really achieve more power or efficiency with aftermarket mufflers but, I can make more noise. Sooooo, if I spent upwards of $400.00 to make more noise is there any kind of guarantee that I will be more successful in picking up hot chicks who will just "know" that I am one of the cool guys because I drive a Jag wagon that makes noise?

Lymeboy, are you after a woman with only a body or are you after a woman with brains? if you are only after the body, then getting past the "more power" bit will be easy. Tint the windows nice and dark and tell them that you can give them a ride in the ride. LMAO. Just having the Jag puts you yards ahead of the other boys in their rice.

I am trying to source a Woody kit (for the car) then I will definitely be the coolest guy. Just in case I have a problem could you forward the phone numbers of the hot chicks that you contacted.

Oh, so close. Adding the "(for the car)" kept many from jumping on that post.

Canada, man! Of course they can. But, the sound of the winter boots on the hard packed snow scares many of us off. Of course, the boots and parkas are what makes them "hot".

Then would that mean that if she starts "shifting the stick" that it would make your car a manual? Just a point to ponder.

Disco, yes, there are many limitations with this car. I wouldn't say that they are a lot of downsides, we just have to be a bit more creative in what we do. Every vehicle has its downsides. It is just a matter of whether you can live with them.
