Lightbulb radio code

hello everyone, i am new to this forum and a new owner of an 03 x-type with 49K on the clock. I bought this cat at an auction in california and shipped it to Ghana. My wife adores this vehicle and she she has currently abandoned her toyota corolla and seriously stuck to the jag. my question is does the radio in the x-type got a code on it cos am scared if i take the battery terminals off i may not be able to retrieve the code and therefore i can't use the radio forweeks till i get request for a new one as there is no jaguar dealership in my country. Am currently in Lebanon and any help will be very much appreciated.
thank you

Yes, it does need a code if the battery is diconnected long enough. I have heard that some owners did not need the code if the battery was only disconnected for a short period (which I can not quantify) of time. The code would be on a plastic card with the owners manual. Occasionally other modules in the car need to be reprogrammed if the battery is disconnected too. I can say when my battery went dead, my climate control display was all messed up but eventully came back to normal. A trick I use is to connect a battery charger to the battery teminals when you disconnect them. That way the car will still have power and you won't lose anything. Just be careful that the wires don't touch!
