Default Random beep

Hey all, I've had a 2005 model X-Type for a good few years now and in the last 6 months or so I've been hearing a random beep. It's definitely from the centre console as it wasn't occuring recently when I had a blown fuse (44) that prevented the console from working.

Now its back up and running again, so is the annoying beep!

It even beeps when there's no key in the ignition.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Is it beeping when it’s in park but doesn’t when pulled out of park ? If so it’s likely to be the micro switch that tells the car when the shifter is in park so that the brake pedal has to be pushed to get out of park. That switch is known to go bad. It usually causes the shifter interlock to click every time the brake is pushed even while driving down the road

It's actually beeping whenever it likes. Sometimes when driving it will beep 3 times within about 20 seconds, sometimes it will just not beep for 10 minutes straight.

Parking brake on or off, it doesn't seem to matter.

Maybe record the sound & see if anyone recognises it.
