When I turn the key to the starting position, the engine does not sart, the dashboard lights do not come on, the starter motor does not turn over (no clicking), the console red security light does not light up. This seems two happen more often after just opening and closing the trunk. Once I let the car sit for 12 hours after it failed to start, then it started without doing anything. I had a new battery and new grounding cable installed. These did not solve the problem. This has happened 4 times in the last 6 weeks. Dealer could not diagnose the problem because the car started every time at the dealer.

 

Check the battery terminals. They may not be tightened correctly. I will advice u to remove the battery terminal, clean them and put them back. Am sure u can DIY without going to an expert. Good luck

 

Thanks. I had a new battery put in last month, as well as a new grounding cable. Posts are clean, clamps are tight. I double checked. Car failed to start again since my first post. I noticed that the security light on the console did not flash when the car was locked. I think the problem is related to a security system failure.

 

since it's no lights on the dash whatsoever, I think it might be a main fude issue, pull it and clean it, check the relays etc, anything electrical.
