Rattles in a 2004 X-Type 3.0
Getting an annoying rattle on the passenger side at highway speeds, but having a tough time locating the source. Where are the common rattle points on this car? Thanks.
Make sure there's nothing in the glove box that's rattling. Also check if the glove box door itself isn't the cause....just reach over while you hear the rattle and push it closed tighter.
Gary, check the trim on the passenger doors to make sure that it isn't coming loose and is tapping the door due to the wind. Next, up near the windshield, there is a small trim piece that runs from the windshield to the rear window. The front of this can come undone and it will flap around due to wind and make an annoying noise.
If it isn't those two things, if you could explain the noise a little better (ie, like metal on metal, tapping a pencil on a sheet of plastic, etc), it might help us narrow down the noise a bit more.

Thanks Chris. Looks like it may have been the right edge of the trim piece that runs the span of the windshield. Didn't even think to check that out. I pushed it down tight, but if it comes up again I'll just apply some light epoxy.
