I had both rear outer CV joints replaced because the wheel speed sensor tone rings were broken. The drivers side went in perfectly fine, but the passenger side is having some issues going back on. The shop is looking to have the rear passenger half shaft either rebuilt (if possible) or replaced.

I know removing the front ones carry a risk as the inner seal on the transfer case can be broken. Are there any similar risks to removing the rear?
