On the radio keypad type 007 then press and hold 'mode' for 2 seconds

No, just kidding that does something else

The folding rear seats were an optional extra, so not all X-Types have them. If you do, you should have two pull-knobs in the boot, see here on the top corners of the boot opening:

I kind of hate that mine don't fold down. Should have been standard.

Indeed, and not just that...I also consider the following ones rather glaring examples of "should've been fitted as standard":
- Cruise control
- Rear armrest
- Adjustable (sliding) front armrest
- Rear electric windows
- Automatic climate control

A lack of some of the above may be quite the surprise to someone going to see one of these today.

Yes, I agree, although I'm glad my car doesn't have dsc. Well I should say I will be once I can upgrade the diffs. VC transfer case and a LSD rear are high on my list of changes for my car ha. A sunroof would be nice but I can live without it. Heated seats would be nice, but fairly simple to do aftermarket now a days anyway.

You wouldn't be saying that if you didn't live in Florida. Try driving your car in snow and see what you say.

With a VC tc and upgraded diffs I'd be just fine in the snow. I'm not worried about that though, I want the added traction for an entirely different reason.

Yeah, after I posted I realized you had a 2002 and you had the VC transfer case. Still a head scratcher on the whole AWD set up on the later cars. Could add that to the list too. Still amazes me what was NOT standard on the X. I understand it was the entry level model, but even back then a lot of other cars has those sorts of features standard.

Actually I have an 04 with a non VC tc, and no dsc. That's half the reason I want to get a VC tc and the other half is to have it rebuilt better than factory and see how it holds up to my abuse. Someone needs to, might as well be me. For performance I'd rather have better mechanical grip with better tc and diffs than electronically controlled traction that attempts to control the car for me.

Autocross with FAST | Autocross or some other group? They've apparently never seen a Jag at an event and are trying to get me to bring mine out. Maybe for the April 12 event.

I've been looking into them, they seem like the best group around here, I hear a lot of good things. I really should go to one soon. Let me know if you do!

I'm registered for the April 12 FAST autocross in the afternoon session. Very good group. I'm friends with the registrar and friendly with the president and most longtime regulars. I used to be out every month back when I had a Miata and then S2000. I haven't been out for over a year now.

I'm not sure if I can make it to the one on the 12th yet or not. I'll let you know if I go though.

Yes, I'm fully with you there. Have you found a source for the rear LSD? In fact my car has DSC (and a centre VLSD) but it can be turned off if I can find and fit a rear LSD.

No I haven't yet, but I haven't been really looking yet. When I do I'm going to start with seeing if any of the awd Volvos or mondeos had LSD. If they don't have anything, I'll probably look into maybe fitting the 8.8 rear differential from fords independent rear suspension from the cobra mustangs and Lincoln mark VIIIs or maybe the S-Type. I really don't expect to find anything that just bolts right in though haha. Quaife makes a LSD diff for the mtx75 transmission and the x type uses a version of the mtx75 for its 5 speed so once I get a nicely rebuilt VC tc and LSD rear diff I'd like to see if I can use the quaife front diff. One day I'll need to rebuild my trans anyway. Oh they also make gears for the mtx75, even straight cut gears, but that would be one expensive transmission build haha.
