Rear sensor
Hi my rear parking sensors are not working, well the two on the rear left are ticking but the ones on the right don't. Also when I select reverse there is no sound, any ideas ?
Sinbad, I would say that first you are going to need to drop the rear bumper. I would then try taking the sensor and swapping them side to side (ie, outside ones left and right, inside ones left and right). Do the same sensors still not click/chirp? If yes, then you have 2 bad sensors. If they do chirp/click, then you have a wiring problem somewhere between the 2 middle sensors that you will have to hand over hand the wiring to determine where the problem lies. If a visual does not show the problem, then let me know and you will probably have to get your hands on a special tool, but you can run it along the wiring and it will show you where the open is in the wiring. If you need help on how to fix the wiring, let me know too. Do not just tape up the bad section. I would say to use something like "RayChem WCSF-050". This is heat shrink on steroids and once you install this stuff, you will never touch it again. tape can let water in and in a year or so, you will be fixing this point again. If it gives you an idea of how good this stuff is, I use it on a nuclear reactor to survive a meltdown. Just have to make sure you get it warm enough to get little "orange donuts" on the end where some of the glue has started to come out the ends. If I need to go into more detail, let me know.
