Jonzy, looking at the JTIS, it looks like once you remove the nut off of the lower control arm, you should be able to slide the link down and out of the actual sway bar. IT may take a little bit of wiggling, but it should pop out for you. There are no fasteners holding it in. It may have a little bit of a friction clip holding it in place, so, a little bit of force may be needed.
Wow, that things chewed up pretty good! Looks like a good time to change them. =P
Like Thermo said, a little mechanical agitation should work for you. Just wiggle and/or jiggle real hard.
HAHA yes it is very bad! The other one looks like same. It's still connected though. Ok I will wiggle it out. I was just confused because the new ones I got are threaded as you can see in the picture below. I called and the guy said that these are the ones to fit my car......
Jonzy, looking at what you have, could it be that the old one is threaded into the end of the sway bar? Then it would be a matter of putting a pair of vice grips on the bare steel in the end of the sway bar. I would need to look at my car to double check on this.
I figured I would have to put a pair of vise grips on it to try and wiggle it out anyways so I might have to try and turn it. Might even be easier to take the whole sway bar off? More than likely I won't get to it till Thursday so till now it will have to bang around when I drive.
The anti roll bar is threaded in the ends, and the link is screwed into the bar. You need to unscrew them. Take the whole bar off of the car, drill a radial hole through the link, put a tiny screwdriver, or something, through the hole and use that to unscrew, unless you manage with a pipe wrench (I didn't).
To get the link off of the rear lower arm, you need an allen key that goes at the threaded end of the link to keep it in place when undoing the nut.
When fitting the new links, put 3-4 washers before the nut to get som prestress in the bolt. Many jaguar owners experience a knocking noise from the rear suspension, I've located this noise often comes from the links nut coming loose just a tiny bit. More prestess in the joint will prevent the nut from coming loose.
When you have the bar off anyway, check the sliding stops next to the arb-bushings, they tend to rust and come off.
I've been hearing some knocking from the rear and ready to assume swaybar links. Got under there to discover I don't have a sway bar, driving me batty.
Attached is some pictures of what's not there. It's a 2001 Jaguar Vaden Plas. Std suspension. Any ideas? Maybe this model just didn't have it? Holes are there. I don't see any brackets to accommodate the sway bar though

Reason: maybe not on this car
I sold my X Type a while ago but I remember that the link screws into the end of the sway bay. There should be flats machined so you can use a spanner though you might need to use vice grips on it.
