Default Red warning light flickering on and off occasional over message centre

Hi, Can someone help?

The battery on my X Type recently failed and I had it replace. All was well initially, but now the red warning light over the message centre has started to flicker on and off occasionally. However, no warning messages appears on the message centre when the light flickers, so I am not sure why this is happening

Check battery cable ends or ground (-) connections..Look for melted cable plastic or discolorations..it is a known issue with these to go bad ..I say it's the likely culprit, since the battery was the last thing touched.

To add;..The Positive is usually the bad cable..But to be sure, I replaced all of the main Battery cables when this issue reared it's head on mine...problem solved

I had the same issue. Turned out to be something in my trunk knocking around the manual release, causing the computer to think the trunk was opening every time I hit a bump in the road.

I don't know if your resolution will be the same, but probably not a bad idea to make sure all your doors and trunk/hood are closed all the way, and to make sure there's nothing bumping the manual trunk release.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Yes it turned out to be the trunk not being fully closed. It would appear that the truck lid very slightly opened and as we drove the car, it must have been been bouncing on the sensor.

Didn't you get a message in the message center saying "Boot Open", or something to that effect when that would happen?

I once was getting a flickering "door open" warning light as I was driving down the highway or going over speed bumps. I was bummed because I didn't feel like tracking down some intermittent wiring issue somewhere.

It turned out that I hadn't closed the hood properly on both latches.

So I did.

I wish all fixes were that easy.
