Repairing ABS ECU

I have a 2004 3.0L and was told by the dealership that I needed a new ABS ECU due to my showing a dynamic traction error message. Total cost for repair will be $1600, $1200 for module $400 labor. I can have my module rebuilt for $400 with a 2yr warranty. Now my question... how difficult is it to take off and replace the ABS ECU? Also where can I find instructions on such? Thanks for any ideas

do they have to change the entire ABS pump and stuff? maybe they are suggesting to change the etire ABS stuff there? that would be more work for sure.. and need to bleed brakes also.
Wow, I hope that is not a common failure.
