Default Replacing tires on 2004 AWD x-type

I was just told I Have to replace all 4 tires on my AWD 2004 x-type Jaguar. My tires are less then 6 months old, one tire went bad. Do I need to replace all 4?

Why do they say you have to replace all 4?

That would depend on what went bad with the tire and what the condition of the other three are. Did you hit something or get a puncture in an otherwise good tire? As do you need a new tire because of a wear pattern? And if it is a wear pattern was it just on the one tire or on others as well? If the other three are still virtually new (you have a low mileage car and you said you only had them for 6 months) you could probably get by with just replacing the one. How many miles are on the set? But if the others have worn down quite a bit you don't want to put a new tire with a different diameter on. That could cause issues with the transfer case. Others more knowledgeable will certainly chime in I'm sure.

If the tire(s) did wear prematurely make sure you fix the issue that caused that in the first place otherwise you will be doing the same thing before too long. Most common issues would be worn lower control arms in the rear (are the rear tires canted in towards the center of the car on one or both sides) or an improper alignment.

I always like to replace two at a time like if one front is not repairable I would change both fronts... easier on the alignment (maybe maybe not but I feel better that way) if theres less than like 5000 miles on them you're probably good with just the one to replace. I am also one that does do a rotation every 5000 miles so maybe I can be a little ****. But also it depends why the one went bad if not just a simple flat... 6 months old is fairly new... its a mileage thing Id be looking at

And yeah, maybe throw some mud on the car and wear your shirt backwards... seems everyone thinks if you own a jag you have money to burn... thats certainly not my case! :-)

Also all this is just my humble opinion and Im not a pro mechanic or tire guy

Man told my husband ( husband was wearing dirty work uniform) it's an all wheel drive and the tread had to be within 32th or it will ruin transmission. Low profile tire and low air pressure equal flat tire. Replaced 2 tires that's what I was taught. It was front right tire.
Thank You all for your help

Depending on the tread depth of the worn tires you might need to replace all 4. If the new one has a larger diameter then it can cause damage to the transfer case and diffs because one side will be turning at a different speed than the other side.

Did you check on the warranty for the tires? I have had 3 sets of tires relaced free while under warranty.
