Question Rotation noise

My first post so hope I'm in the right place. If not. apologies....

I have an X-Type 2.5 V6 Automatic 2003. It has recently developed a "clicking noise" which seems to be of the same frequency as the wheels going round. I can't work out exactly where it's coming from . So far I've jacked each wheel up in turn and there is no sign of anything catching when I turn the wheels. I don't think it's the brakes as the noise is audible whether I apply the brakes or not. The only time the noise goes away is when I'm accelerating. When I have my foot off the accelerator pedal, the noise is quite audible.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Maybe look at the CV joints on your front half shafts.

You would have to narrow down the sound. I would start by reproducing the sound out at the corner you believe it is coming from. Sounds like you have done this. Then remove the tire and turn the rotor. If the sound stopped then check out the tire. If it still continues stick your head in there and listen for where it is coming from. CV Joints or bearings are likely. We had a clicking noise while turning the steering wheel as a tie rod was not properly secured. Really just have to get up there and narrow down the sound as there are so many moving parts.
