Default Rotors

I need new rear rotors on my 2002 X-type and was wondering what kind I should get. I was looking for something in the <$60 range. Anything would help but links would be great thanks.

The flat ones work best too.

WIldcats, while I can not give you a specific manufacturer (I think I used BrakeMotive via E-bay, but don't quote me on that), you can find a set of 4 rotors and 2 sets of ceramic pads for your car for around $200 delivered to the house. Then you can have cross drilled/slotted rotors with quality ceramic pads for $50 a wheel including the cost of the pads. Something to ponder. The new rotors make a nice improvement to the car and a lot of members here recommend them.

This is what Thermo is refering to:

http://www.brakemotive.com/listings/...R/X-TYPE/5597/

He and I both have the full kit which is $182. That will give you ceramic pads and drilled/slotted rotors for all four wheels. Looking at the prices, you get a much better deal if you just order the complete kit and replace everything at once.

For some reason the pre-'05 parts are slightly cheaper, I'm not sure what the difference would be, but the link I've provided will show you all the products they have which are compatible with your '02.

Be aware that drilled/slotted rotors do NOT shorten stopping distances or avoid fade and are pretty much just bling. Some owners have reported extra noise and cracking/warping problems with these rotors.

Just saying.

Wildcats, I will admit, I do get a little bit of whirr occasionally when I brake. But, normally it is like the first stop of the day. After that, can't say that I notice it. THe noise is more obvious if you do light stopping (ie, do not step on the brake pedal hard). But, even moderate braking does not cause any noise.

I would not buy the brake set just because of this. My personal opinion, the noise is not enough to make me pick a different rotor if I needed to replace them. The motor at idle makes more noise than the rotors do.

Same for me, I don't even notice the noise.

However, I have noticed now that it's cold in the mornings here (~25 degrees F) that my first 1 or 2 stops sound squeaky like when it's time to replace your pads, but once they warm up the sound is gone.
