Default Sat Nav Upgrade Security Code

Been collecting the component for a stock sat nav & amplifier upgrade. The only thing missing are the sat nav harness & lead optical wirings. The bottom deck came in & thought I give it a try & connect it. Since there is no wire upgrade. Works fine except when I try to start the car, it won't even click. So I thought it might be the security code. So connect the old deck & start the car. It started fine.

I've been reading sat nav upgrade threads & all said there's no need for security code or no mention of it. Just want to check if anybody had to actually go through the dealer to reset the code or if anybody has used the XTYPE parts security code (see link below)...

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not really sure what you're refering to here.

To make the Satnav retrfit, you can re-use your existing radio/cd/tape deck, there is no need to fit a new one.

The touchscreen won't work if it's not wired up completely. But based on your post, I think you said that you only changed the radio, which isn't necessary anyhow...

Or maybe the radio is dead? I just bought a Radio/CD for my XJR & it didn't work. Sadly a lot of stuff ends up for sale when it should have gone in the bin....

How do you remove the part above the radio/cd deck (shown in attached image)?

There are four Torx bolts on the side of the radio/tape/cd, undo them & it comes apart. They are three separate devices, the only thing holding them together is the frame around the outside.

You need to realize that the D2B network has to be configured to accept the additional modules. You cannot just connect a module and not tell the other modules that there is another one that needs to communicate.

The Matrix has an order and then the Head Unit must be configured with WDS,IDS,SDD etc. to enable the network to function.

I posted the D2B network BOF cable order in a .pdf several years ago but I don't know where it might be located on the forum.

Just random connections without configuration will not let the network operate.
The modules need to be in a specific order and configured!!!!

Bob, I have to disagree with you slightly here.

Yes there is a specific order in which modules have to be installed on the D2B network, in fact the correct order is;

cabin -> CDC -> phone -> voice -> navigation -> amplifier -> cabin

If you had an X350, then the rear entertainment goes in the chain there as well.

However....

If there is already an active D2B network present (i.e. car already has a CD changer, or phone module) then there is no configuration needed, the system will automatically detect new modules, so long as they are in the correct order.

I added a phone, and an amplifier to my X-Type, which from the factory only had the Satnav on the D2B network. The modules were automatically detected and function correctly.

I do not agree that modules need configuring, perhaps only if the car had absolutely nothing in it to begin with.

The early X-Types (2002/03MY) were different and software was always being updated.
The 2004MY> was fitted with a system similar to the X202, X350 etc.
I don't think the 2002 X400 can be fitted with later modules and maybe this is where the problem is.

Here is some info.
