had the P codes scanned for me yesterday and i understand some of them like the MAF and IAT. but i got a couple codes i have no clue what they refer to.

P1638 - CAN ECM / INST network malfunction

P1603 - TCM EEPROM failure

any help would be appreciated. thank you ahead of time

The X-Type is the X400, there is a section "Jaguar Fault Codes" and the file is "400OBDII_2002MY"

The document is the official DTC list from the JTIS, which also gives a list of possible causes for each code.

 

i have all data and it says could be :

P1638:
CAN open circuit fault - INST to ECM
CAN short circuit fault
INST failure
ECM failure

what is CAN? what is INST? is ECM engine control module?

P1603:
battery disconnected while ignition is switched on
B+ power supply circuit: open circuit
TCM failure

is TCM transmission control module? what is B+?
