Hey Ladies and Gents, I try to read and search as much as I can so if this is redundant I apologize up front.
Details:
2006 Xtype, sedan, 3.0, auto, 125K miles
I’ve owned it since 2015, it’s been a great car
Bought OBD2 Scanner JLR For Jaguar Land Rover SDD V160 Auto Diagnostic Tool 2005-2016 from Evil Bay, cheap $36.00, Installed (finally) on a spare stand alone think pad. Everything seems to work. Hooked it up and followed the login instructions, here’s what I got:
So how do I use the software? I mainly wanted to add a CD changer, worked on it last night and poked around, found the “Entertainment System” then it showed me CDC option 0=Not Installed 1=Installed, CDC is installed with proper cables but I can’t figure out how to change the value to a 1. Is there a manual on how to use SDD? I had Vida/Dice for my Volvo XC90 and it was much more intuitive. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
If you can’t be good, be good at it.

Hello Boys and Girls,
Since I’m old, retired and bored I thought I would update this.
I will start with “DO NOT DO WHAT I DID/DO IF YOU CAR IS YOUR DAILY DRIVER”. I do not drive much or very far anymore so mucking my car up is ok.
That being said, I messed with my V160 and it seems to work very well. After playing around and looking at all the features I was able to find the “add a component” section of the entertainment module I figured out how to add the CDC only to find out my evil bay unit is AFU. So I’ll buy another one and try again. If anyone has one for sale, I’m your huckleberry.
So digging deeper with the SDD my ABS and GEM are not communicating on the CAN. ABS is functional, tested today in a big parking lot, 50mph and tried to lock them up, pedal vibrated as expected and no skid marks. The GEM is tougher. I don’t know what it does and the car is running perfect. All features work as they should. Anyone have insight on how to test/trouble shoot the CAN I’m in. I have extensive knowledge in MODBUS/BACNET/LON protocols so I’m guessing our cars are LON as that’s the preferred protocol from across the pond.
Caveat, A/C was acting up, it’s all brand new from a year ago. Run it in normal auto mode and it was blowing HOT air like it was 10F outside. Run it down to LOW and it blows snow. So as Tim Allen says “I re-wired it”. Logged in with SDD found the climate control module and redownloaded the software to the climate module (DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF MUCKING UP YOUR CAR). Guess what? Functions as it should, so my evil bay buy of 38.00 for the SSD and dongle are paid.
