Default Seats: lumbar support does not decrease

On the 6-way electrical seat adjustment the lumbar support does not decrease on either of the seats while pressing down arrow (see manual JJM 10 02 20 901 pp 62-63). What could be wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks!

I'm not sure there is anything wrong with your seat. When pressing the up (increase arrow) you will hear a pump increasing air pressure in the lumbar support pillow. However, when pressing the down button, you only have a valve opening and there is a natural release of air pressure; this can be accelerated pressing on the lumbar support area. The pump does not run and you may not hear much of anything. But when sitting in the seat you should notice an effect.
At least that is the way mine works.

Does it work in the other direction where you want to inflate the lumbar support? Maybe it doesn't do anything because it is already deflated fully.

When pressing the up arrow, I hear the pump purring, but pressing down I can't hear a thing and the pillow doesn't seem to deflate - same for the passenger seat. Maybe I should try harder
