service frequency
hey guys, quick question and i am sure answers may vary, but just looking for some insight or direction. my x type has 194k miles and i usually get it serviced every 3k miles, at least as far as an oil change goes.
i see some/most get theirs serviced every 7-10k miles, which i am sure depends on the oil they are using.
i am not using synthetic but have thought about switching. the main reason i haven't is because my car has a 194k miles and i figure if it aint broke, don't fix it! i'm just weary about introducing a new oil to it if it's been use to running with the sam stuff in it for so long.
going on a lonnnnggggg trip this weekend. it's going to be this little baby's first international road trip(going to canada) and was looking to get it serviced before i made the long haul out. i supposed second if you count its maiden voyage over here from the uk...
thanks for your thoughts in advance!

jmault, I change my oil every 4,000 miles, vice 3K. I used to do the 3K service too, but watching the mileage and the condition of the oil, I wasn't seeing any difference by extending the servicing out to 4K miles.
As for switching over to full synthetic, you will probably notice that you will get a few new leaks following the change. The synthetic oil is a smaller molecule and therefore allows the oil to leak out of more locations.
As long as you are doing religious oil changes, then I say stick with what you are doing as this engine will last you out to 300K miles easy.
