OK, we're almost there. When you did the fluid change, did you get all of the old stuff out, or did you mix the new Dexron in with the old fluid? If you did get all of the old fluid out, how'd you do it? Thanks good buddy.............

I think I found it, but we should let racerx confirm it - this was in the S-Type section...

I have only been here since Aug. of 2008 so he posted it last fall. Apparently RACERX had
been away for awhile then came back. Dennis asked him how he does it and he posted
it here in X-Type forum. But the info in S-Type forum is essentially what he posted.

I don't knw how you you were away for, all I know is when you came back, this forum was very happy you did. I am still trying to read up from your very 1st post but I can not find anything before 1/1/07 - I would really like to see you x-type and read those posts... Looks like you joined back in 2004...

Does anyone know how to get into the archives with the search feature?

Okay Buddy..you have me completely confused again...

When its done close the plug, and pour in fluid from above. The plug should be between the battery and the throttle body/airbox area, down in there. I was able to weasle my hand down between the battery, airbox, and front of the car and pop the plastic plug off. People with big hands will need to move the battery.
At one time many posts ago, you told me that you opened the big hex plug (allen)on top of the tranny behind the battery to pour in your ATF..this quote from you above says to pop the cork like I thought as explained in the JTIS (it's called a charging port)when we were discussing this long ago andI humbly conceided to your way, by removing the big HEX (allen) plug..so which is is it now..???[&:]

Thanks buddy

I have changed my Trans Fluid 6 times in the last year in an attempt to flush out all the old fluid. I was getting some harsh 1st to 2nd shifts in slow traffic. At first I was using Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc. Big improvement over the old dirty fluid. Then I switched to Mobil One synthetic ATF. The Mobil one has a little higher viscosity then the Valvoline. The next time I change the fluid I may try the Pentosin ATF 1, or the AMSOIL Synthetic Multi-Vehicle Transmission Fluid. Pentosin e-mailed me that they meet the jaguar spec and Amsoil list it on there web site.

Has any one used the Idemitsu Lubricants Automatic Transmission Fluid Matic-J ATF. I have recently found this on a couple of web sites listing it for Jaguear x-type.
